Lampshade Size and Style Guide
I get asked a lot about which size lampshade to choose and also which style so I have put together a guide on the things to consider when choosing a Ceau Store lampshade.
First things first, whilst there are guidelines to bear in mind when choosing your lampshade there is no real right or wrong answer and personal preference should also be considered.

Ceau Store Pleated Lampshades come in two styles and three sizes
Small Pleated Lampshade
Notes on Size
This size works great on wall lights, on low hanging pendants (maybe over a bedside table) and on small lamp bases with a maximum height of 30cm.
I also love them paired with tall thin lamp bases, you could go up to 40cm.
I wouldn’t recommend this size for wide and squat bases.
Notes on Style
Small Wide Coolie style pleats work best as small pendants, on wall lights that face down or on slender small lamp bases.
Small Traditional Tapered pleats work great on wall lights, small lamps or very thin tall lamps. Like this one shown here.
Notes on Fitting
All Ceau Store lampshades have a clip fitting. As the fitting clips directly onto the bulb It is important that you use the correct one. Choose either a candle bulb for the small pleated lampshade in both styles. Invert the candle bulb in the frame (metal end first) to use as a pendant shade.
Medium Pleated Lampshade
Notes on Size
This size is a great all-rounder and by far the most popular size. The medium pleats are perfect for a range on lamp bases. Go for something with a max height of 40cm, you could push it to 45cm for skinny lamps. And for lamps with more width go for something a little shorter 30-35cm in height.
This size is also great on pendant light fittings.
Notes on Style
Medium Wide Coolie style pleats have a wide base and a narrow top. This style gives a beautiful diffusion of light to any space. They bring a more modern relaxed feel.
Medium Traditional Tapered pleats have a narrower base and slightly wider top than the wide coolie style. These add a more traditional feel to your space and pair beautifully with a wide range of lamps and also look great suspended from the ceiling on a pendant fitting.

Large Pleated Lampshade
Notes on Size
This size is the largest pleated lampshade size and is great for larger lamps or on downward facing floor lamps. They also create a beautiful focal point when used with a pendant fitting.
Notes on Style
Large Wide Coolie style pleats have a wide base and a very narrow top, consider the space you intend to place it as it will sit quite far away from the wall if on a table lamp. This style gives a beautiful diffusion of light to any space.
Large Traditional Tapered pleats have a narrower base and slightly wider top than the Wide Coolie style. These add a more traditional feel to your space and pair beautifully with a wide range of lamps and are ideal for downward facing floor lamps like the one pictured.

Cloud Lampshades
Notes on Size
The Cloud comes in one size which I would class as a small/medium size. These look great on narrow tall lamps with a maximum height of 40cm. They look great as pendant lights in small rooms or hung as multiples over tables or kitchen islands. Their versatility means you can also use them on wall lights.
Notes on Style
The Cloud is perfect for adding a soft relaxed light to your home and works really well in rooms with layered lighting or any room where you want to add texture and you’d like to create a warm welcoming glow for example a bedroom or to add contrast, over a dining table.
Notes on Fitting
All Ceau Store lampshades have a clip fitting. As the fitting clips directly onto the bulb It is important that you use the correct one. Choose a Candle Bulb when using the Cloud as a pendant shade either on pendant fitting or any fittings where the bulb holder faces down. Use a Mini Globe Bulb on any fitting where the bulb holder faces up, like a lamp or upward facing wall light.
